Torchlight Parade
by Ashley Brown & Merlin Erickson
Gondola Artwork
One of our favorite traditions is the Torchlight Parade celebration for New Years. and we want to recreate this moment in time for everyone to experience on a small scale, with motorized ski lifts and red lights carried down the mountain side by our skiers. We set forth to try and capture some realism and some magic of this time of year so if you look closely there is a hidden silver snowflake amongst the trees.

Meet Merlin
Merlin is a contemporary artist whose work explores the relationship between Art and technology and works primarily in sculptures. Most of Merlin’s pieces are interactive, often incorporating movement to invite viewers into a more immersive experience. Functionality comes first; each work must do something before he layers on the surreal and imaginative qualities that define his style. Beyond the studio, Merlin is dedicated to enriching the lives of others through art. One item made by one person can make the day of many people and Merlin finds that truth amazing. Merlin uses 3D printers, coding, animation, graphic design, video editing, sound recording, lighting, electrical engineering, metal fabrication, wood working, sculpting, painting, and story development to make his art.
