Elements of Wind, created by BYU student Chelsy Smith, is mounted on an 11,500-pound rock and appears to pay homage to the shapes and design elements of the resort’s original logo from its days as The Canyons Resort, before it merged with Park City Mountain.
The plaque reads: A male and female form fly down a hill, skiing perhaps, mountain biking, or even dancing. The shape of the human figures are in motion; enjoying the healing world of the outdoors, be it in the winter, spring, summer or fall. They are generating their own wind, creating motion and air currents as the ride the momentum of the mountain. The sculpture embodies not only the element of the wind, but also invigorating atmosphere of the outdoors, and the thrill of taking par in the natural experience.
