April 28, 2021 – Pendry Hotels & Resorts is proud to announce the appointment of Richard Wales as general manager of Pendry Park City, scheduled to open winter 2021. Located in the heart of Canyons Village at the base of Park City Mountain, the ski-in/lift-out resort and residences will be a modernist take on a traditional alpine lodge featuring 152 guestrooms, suites, Pendry Residences, four unique lounge, restaurant and bar concepts, the only rooftop pool and bar in the area, Spa Pendry, state-of-the-art fitness center, Pinwheel Kids Club, 7,000 square feet of indoor meeting space and access to 7,300 acres of world-class skiable terrain.
Wales joins the Pendry family with more than 20 years of global hospitality experience, including nearly a decade spent with The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, where he worked at both domestic and international properties in Dubai, Boston, San Juan, Florida, and beyond. In his new role as General Manager, Wales will oversee all aspects of operations.
Most recently, Wales served as the general manager of The St. Regis Deer Valley, Utah. Prior to this, he served in numerous leadership roles from hotel manager at 1 Hotel South Beach Miami, to director of operations at Claremont Club & Spa, A Fairmont Hotel in Berkeley, California, as well as The St. Regis Aspen Resort, where he initially served as director of rooms.
Wales was born and raised in Sydney, Australia and graduated from Le Cordon Bleu with a degree in hospitality management specializing in luxury hotels. A true hospitality veteran, he launched his career as a bellman and has since worked in almost every department from housekeeping, rooms, operations, front desk, guest services, concierge and beyond.
